Cacao Circle

Medicine of the heart

Cacao Circle

A Cacao circle is an opportunity to explore one of the most sacred plants of the world, known for centuries by many communities in Central and South America for its power to open and heal the heart, alongside many other health benefits to the body, mind and spirit.

The context of a sharing circle with the medicine of Cacao creates a sacred space for exploration, healing, liberation and empowerment of the self.

During this gathering we will combine the sacred Cacao plant as a delicious hot drink, sound journey with a variety of organic instruments and storytelling from the Andean traditions, exploring ancient perspectives of consciousness and the multiple ways in which we can connect with simple rituals for healing and wellbeing.

About Cacao

The sacred tree

Theobroma Cacao is a small evergreen tree from the family of the Malvaceae, native to the tropical regions of central and south America. The fruits of this tree are big pods that vary from green, orange and purple colors, and inside is the bean of “love”, the Cacao bean, inside a white juicy and sweet flesh. From this bean to becoming chocolate is a big journey.

Cacao in its purest form comes from beans that have been naturally sun dried, allowing a fermentation process to activate medicinal properties, then hand peeled and milled to form a paste. From this purest form of cacao, we made our special brew, by mixing it with water, spices and very often with some natural sweetener.

Some of Cacao’s medicinal properties for the body, mind and spirit are:

  • Enlivens our body, enhances vitality and mental clarity as it is packed full with minerals such as magnesium, calcium, and iron, amongst many others.

  • Soften our heart space, allowing emotional blockages to be seen and gentle dissolved

  • Elevates our mood and helps us to sustain our energy naturally

  • Allow us to experience bliss state

  • A sense of connection to self, others and what’s around us

  • Many others to be discovered by your own connection with the medicine

Roots & current expansion

The ceremonial approach to cacao dates back to thousands of years, in areas of northern Peru, where indigenous tribes consumed cacao and other medicinal plants as a form of prayer to connect to ancestors. Archaeological sites have been found in which there are still traces of cacao and the temples suggest a ceremonial approach to this plant, as many other sacred plants. Nowadays, the ceremony of cacao is held by indigenous groups in different areas of Peru, Mexico and Guatemala, this kind of traditional ceremonies are connected to offerings to the earth, prayers to the seed and trees and different ways of sharing cacao, mostly on special events, such as birth, birthdays, marriage, etc. or as part of other traditional plant medicine ceremonies.

We believe mama Cacao wants to travel around the world and provide healing on a global scale. She is a very gentle yet powerful being that help us to heal the heart, come back to self, be authentic and explore nature on a deeper and more intimate way.

Currently, there is a big movement of modern Cacao Ceremonies happening in the western culture, many self claimed traditional, or Mayan or some sort of cultural label. While these kind of ceremonies are with good intentions of connection, it is important to us to mention that the way that these ceremonies are held has only been created during the last 10 years based on cultural assumptions. Saying this, more than ever we need devoted and humble students of the plant to be able to share with integrity, humility and gratitude for the origins and journey of cacao, as our world craves deeper connection and cacao is a master plant that allow us to feel that.

We aim to continue to learn from the plant and from the guardians of the plant, to contribute on sharing ethically sourced cacao with open discussions on cultural values and the applied spirituality that comes with the communion with sacred plants, and to serve the greater good by sharing the tools that have helped us along the journey to find our inner healer and teacher.

Ceremonial origins

Our service

Preserve the ancient ways

Part of our service to the plants and to the people, is to be a bridge between worlds, allowing people to explore a personal relationship with these plants, rather than using the plant. Our aim is to preserve the sacred ways for the plants to show us the way, the natural way, the way back home.

For us, all plants are sacred beings, each to their own wisdom and healing powers. We, as humans, we’ve been commuting with these medicines for different purposes since our genesis, and we have forgotten how to relate to plants in a sacred way, especially these days, in which nature has been so industrialized and abused.

And so, together we gather to share the wisdom of the plants and raise prayers of healing and gratitude for their wisdom and healing powers.

Your experience

Sacred space for Mama Cacao & you

The cacao spirit is referred to as Mama Cacao, the energies of the mother,  powerful, gentle, nurturing and embracive. Her wisdom is a form of pure love, and is that what we call upon when we sit with her, intentions of love, healing, forgiveness, remembrance, peace and joy.

The context of a Cacao Circle is the creation of a sacred and intentional space for exploration, healing, liberation and empowerment of the self, invoking subtle energies to work with us, such as guidance from all directions, elements, plant teachers and any spiritual teachers and light beings that the attendee might want to work with.

Through guided inner exploration, the power of intention and the circle itself, we can enter into a personal and collective space in which we can transcend many of our limited thoughts and beliefs so we can remember our essence and its true purpose.

During our cacao circles we will share some of the foundations of the Andean wisdom, using the art of story telling to continue to pass this authentic oral tradition that can have a very positive impact in the way we are living and relating with all.

We are a family of four on a committed path through life following the guidance of Great Spirit. Our mission is to serve humanity and nature by encouraging and supporting people on their journey of remembering their inner nature and providing practical tools to integrate and cultivate this state of being into daily life.
